Jara Johnson is a singer/songwriter originally from Clarinda, Iowa, a small town in Southwest Iowa. She's been singing most of her life, but it wasn't until her 1st year of college that she decided to pursue her music career fully and so her musical journey began by taking her out of Iowa to Houston, Texas. It was in Houston at the age of 19 that Jara first began writing songs and discovered a whole new addiction for music that opened many doors for her and made her even more driven. She began playing her new songs out at open mic nights all around the city, even getting the chance to sing the National Anthem at a Houston Astros baseball game in front of thousands. After Texas came a turn in road, as she made the move back to the Midwest to finish college and get her degree in Medical Technology at Northwest Missouri State University and in that time she got married in 2003, all the while still singing and writing with her music and Nashville always pressing on the back of her mind. A year later that pressing thought became a reality when Jara and her husband packed up all they owned and drove to Nashville, no jobs, and not knowing a soul, only following her passion for music and that constant drive to make her dream a reality. Jara spent the next 4yrs in Nashville perfecting her artistry; singing, recording, and writing songs with some of Nashville's best songwriters. Three of her current songs, "The Last Time", "Where I'm Coming From", and "It All Could Have Ended There" she wrote with Nashville hit songwriter, Tim Johnson, who has had many, many of his songs cut by country artists and had numerous number 1 hits. These songs and more Jara put out her newly recorded album..."That's What I Call Home" which is now on iTunes, Amazon, Napster, and emusic. Jara Johnson is a breath of fresh air to the country music scene. Her soulful, pop-infused country sound is so pure and emotion filled and has a way of drawing you into the very core of every song she writes and sings about. She is an artist on the rise and making many take notice.
